Contents: indigenous tree seeds protected in a ball of charcoal dust and nutritious binders. Thrown onto a suitable area, and the seedball will wait until the conditions are right to grow.
A Seedball is exactly what it sounds like - a seed enclosed in a sphere of charcoal dust blended with nutrient-rich binders. Our mission is to make the planting of valuable native plant species (especially trees and grass) in Kenya more affordable and accessible.
The biochar coating of the seedball serves as a protective shield for the enclosed seed, safeguarding it from potential threats like birds, rodents, insects, and temperature fluctuations. This protective layer ensures the seed remains safe until the arrival of the much-awaited rains. Once moistened, the seedball contributes to maintaining a consistently damp environment around the seed, promoting successful germination.
By utilizing Seedballs, we strive to contribute to the reforestation and restoration efforts in Kenya. These eco-friendly balls make it easier for individuals and organizations to participate in planting initiatives, ultimately making a positive impact on our environment.
Join us in our mission to create a greener and healthier Kenya by utilizing the innovative approach of Seedballs. Let's come together and work towards a sustainable future one seed at a time.

National Tree Planting Day
Kiu Catchment, Makueni County.
During the National Tree Planting Day CTM donated seedballs packed into farmer's mix packets, each holding 40 seedballs, and these were distributed among the attendees at Kiu Catchment in Makueni County. We also planted a portion of the donated seedballs in the dedicated area at Kiu.
Our involvement was part of a collaborative initiative involving the Government of Kenya, Kibwezi Well-Wishers, the Kenya Forest Research Institute, and other stakeholders. The Seedball Kenya management team also engaged with various groups, including media representatives and environmental organizations on our generous donations. It was a chance to educate everyone about seedballs and their importance in environmental conservation.
More than just planting trees, the event aimed to raise awareness and how community involvement can drive significant reforestation efforts and sustainably.
