Tile trowels are essential tools during your tile installation when applying ProGrip tile adhesive to your wall or floor surfaces. But they do more than move the cement from your mixing bucket to the installation surface. A trowel also acts as a metered dispensing system, delivering just the right amount of adhesive for the tile.

The notches on the tile trowel do two important things:

• First, they make it easy to apply only a specific amount of adhesive. No matter how much adhesive you scoop onto the trowel, the notches apply it in nice, even lines of identical thickness.
• Second, the trowel creates spaces between the lines of adhesive on the tile and on the floor. These allow air to escape when the tile is pressed into the adhesive. Without the spaces, you could get air pockets that prevent the tile from lying flat or stick properly.
